Pair your phone with your computer

Install Relay on your computer and open Settings → Phone.
In the mobile app, choose Connect to Computer and scan the QR code. You can also type the address and pairing code shown under the QR code.
Keep both devices on the same Wi-Fi network. On iPhone, allow Local Network access when asked.

If pairing fails, check that your computer's firewall allows Relay to accept incoming connections, and that your Wi-Fi does not isolate devices from each other (common on school and guest networks).

Captions or AI answers are not working

Check your internet connection. Captions and AI features need to be online.
Make sure Relay has microphone and camera permission in your device settings.
If you see "Too many requests", wait a minute and try again.

macOS says the app can't be opened

Open System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway next to Relay.

Windows SmartScreen warning

Click More info, then Run anyway.

Safety

Relay's Blind Mode guidance is an aid, not a replacement for a cane, guide dog, or orientation and mobility training. Always use your own judgment around traffic, stairs, and other hazards.

Report an AI response

If Relay ever gives a harmful or offensive AI response, use Report AI response in the mobile app settings, or report it on GitHub.
